European citizens’ remote work support

RemotEU is a project focus on the research of different legal models for remote work in the European Union. Living in a place and working somewhere else is a reality. RemotEU has the objective of attending to this matter and supporting new regulations to help remote workers and companies.

Why RemotEU

The lockdown caused by COVID-19 forced remote work to become mainstream. Companies had to implement new measures to make remote work possible and this new model changed the way they organized their teams.

This model has brought consequences not only at labour level. Remote workers during these months realized they wished for some changes in their lives. Those could have been living in a different country while they were carrying out their work at the distance, or even in their own country.

Public Administrations have reacted implementing or adapting the current laws to regulate this situation. Nevertheless, this regulation is still not enough for workers and companies because of social security, tax payments, etc.

The promotion of a transnational mobility, free, safe and inclusive into the EU.

Offering public, open and accesible information about remote work and related bureaucracy to European citizens.

One-stop-shop with all the regulation related to remote work for workers based in any European country.

Raising awareness among Public Administrations in order to promote and regulate remote work through good practices and recommendations.

  1. Start of the project

    March 30th, 2022

    RemotEU began with the research phase to familiarize ourselves with public and private initiatives relating to telework, like testimonies from workers and companies sharing the difficulties they face.

  2. Launch of the remoteu.info website

    April 11th, 2022

    We published the RemotEU website, a space in which we present all of the information from the project and the results we obtained.

  3. Meeting with EURES

    May 10th, 2022

    We shared experiences with EURES, the cooperation network for employment services and for the free movement of workers, to learn about the queries they received from companies and employees, and the administrative obstacles that make teleworking from other countries more difficult.

  4. Trip to Fuerteventura

    May 23th, 2022

    We traveled to Fuerteventura to see what a coliving space is, and why this option is ideal for teleworkers and digital nomads.

  5. Participation in a focus group on hybrid work in the Dublin Chamber of Commerce (Ireland)

    June 17th, 2022

    We met with companies to learn about measures they have applied relating to hybrid work and what gauges they use to monitor work.

  6. Attendance at the Ascent conference on remote work

    August 11th, 2022

    Meeting with experts and leaders from the world of work to learn about the challenges faced by companies and remote workers in relation to teleworking.

  7. Transnational meeting in Dublin

    November 18th, 2022

    The three entities participating in the consortium meet in Dublin to make a point of situation of the actions carried out and mark the roadmap for the following steps.

  8. Wikipedia of Teleworking publication

    January 15th, 2023

    Creation and publication of the Wikipedia of Teleworking, a library with 75 articles related to remote work that allows users to learn the details about this form of work. It includes the advantages and disadvantages of telecommuting, the necessary tools for remote work, and recommended practices for succeeding as a teleworker, among others.

  9. Quiz: How much do you know about teleworking?

    February 10th, 2023

    Creating a Quiz to assess the knowledge of remote workers and companies on international remote work and to address their main concerns. The quiz consists of 15 clear and concise questions that cover different aspects of the topic.

  10. Webinar: International Remote Work in Europe

    March 30th, 2023

    We held a webinar on international remote work in which we talked about RemotEU, the research findings, and the key factors about remote work in Europe.

  11. Project completion

    August 27th, 2023

    The project ends on August 27. Even so, the content generated during the execution of the project is available to workers, companies and Public Administrations through this web page.

Iniciative to promote the return of Spanish diaspora though labour counselling, Psychological Services and bureaucratic support. It acts as intermediary between emigrants, companies and public institutions designing public programs for this collective.

Helping Networks

Entity which offer information and support to entrepreneurs in Ireland willing to work as freelancers or to launch a startup. It carries out public and private projects in Ireland thanks to it’s multidisciplinary team.

Torniamo

Project focus on the creation of an Italian expat community to put their experiencia at the service of their country. They support Italian emigrants to carry out their jobs in Italy close to family and friends.
